[AR4] EPA - Electricity - eGRID2022 (2024 release) - Location-based
eGRID2022 (2024 release)
Data Details

Note: As a result of changes introduced in the Spring ’24 release that support the flexible capture of market and location-based emissions rate data on Electricity Emissions Factor Set records, for the new version of this dataset the emissions factors type is set as ‘location-based’. Electricity Emissions Factors Holds the factors that are used to convert electricity usage into CO₂e, CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O values. This record holds data on the breakdown of sources of electricity by fuel type (grid mixes). Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Electricity Data (eGRID) Year – Version – Publish Date - Salesforce Release 2024 (2022 data) – 1.0 – 1/30/2024 – Spring '24 2024 (2022 data) – 1.1 – 1/30/2024 – Spring '24. To fix Marketplace load issue, no data change. 2024 (2022 data) – 1.2 – 1/30/2024 – Spring '24. Update for Location and Market-Based Electricity Emissions 2024 (2022 data) – 1.3 – 1/30/2024 – Spring '24. Name update to distinguish as Location-based only. Postal Codes update. 2024 (2022 data) – 1.4 – 1/30/2024 – Winter '25. Increased decimal point for CO2 data, no change to any other data. 2024 (2022 data) – 1.5 – 1/30/2024 – Winter '25. To correct an error where the market emissions rate data was incorrectly included in the location file 2024 (2022 data) – 1.6 – 1/30/2024 – Winter '25. Name update to distinguish as inclusive of AR4 (Fourth Assessment Report) values Calculation Logic: - For emissions factors from eGRID, the original data was used, no conversions made. - Net Zero Cloud uses the ZIP code to subregion mapping from the EPA Power profiler. - From the eGrid2021 data (2023 release) version onward, for ZIP codes taken from Power Profiler if a ZIP code belongs to multiple subregions, it is no longer mapped to the first subregion so duplicates will exist. The reason being is to keep the source data intact and not be prescriptive. https://www.epa.gov/climateleadership/ghg-emission-factors-hub Detailed NZC Emissions Factors Calculation Methods are available in the Documentation section
